We are pleased to announce an exciting new initiative: Starting in September, Scopewire, in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Knut Henkel, an expert in financial and sustainability reporting at Emden-Leer University of Applied Sciences, will be offering webinars on the topic of “Sustainability Reporting in Medium-Sized Companies”. These webinars are aimed specifically at SMEs that want to improve their sustainability reporting and meet current requirements. Prof. Dr. Henkel will contribute his extensive expertise to provide practical and well-founded insights.

Professor Dr. Knut Henkel

Professor Dr. Knut Henkel has been Professor of Accounting and Business Taxation at Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences since 2016. He was born in 1965 and initially studied economics at the University of Bonn before continuing his studies in business administration at the University of Siegen, where he graduated with a degree in business administration in 1992. In 2011, he completed a part-time doctorate at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg.

Henkel began his professional career at Deutsche Postbank AG, where he held various positions in accounting and taxes from 1994 to 2016, including Head of Accounting Financial Markets and Specialist Accounting Policies.

In addition to his work at the Emden/Leer University of Applied Sciences, Henkel offers seminars and webinars on financial and sustainability reporting through his company “FIAC - Prof. Dr. Knut Henkel”. His research focuses on international accounting, in particular the accounting of financial instruments and banks, as well as sustainability reporting. He has published numerous articles in specialist journals and books.

Professor Henkel was voted “Online Teacher of the Year” by the students of his department in 2020.
